Sinkhole Repair: Keep an eye out for these things

The concept of having a sinkhole underneath your home is quite overwhelming. It is important to know that sinkholes are quite a common occurrence in many regions and only a small number of sinkhole occurrences end in life threatening situations.

However foundation damage can happen to your home due to sinkholes that can be very costly to repair. The quicker you determine you have a sinkhole the faster you can make necessary foundation repairs that will minimize the damage to your home. Once you have determined that you have signs of sinkhole damage you will want to contact your insurance company as soon as possible.

The insurance company will send someone out and schedule to have the proper testing done to determine whether or not you have a sinkhole, the type and size of the sinkhole, and the necessary repair methods needed for your sinkhole repair.

These are the signs you may have sinkhole activity:


- Finding cracks in your exterior of your home, such as in the block or stucco.
- Noticing cracks in interior areas along joints, windows, or doors.
- Observing large cracks in walls or ground surface, such as floors or concrete walks and drive areas.
- Noticing your floors sloping and becoming uneven.
- Finding depressions in your yard, street or neighbors yards near you.
- Finding sediment in your water.
- Noticing small amounts of water collecting in pond like areas, which have never formed before.
- Finding windows, doors, or even cabinets becoming harder to open & close normally.
- Seeing your fence posts, trees, foundations, etc slumping or falling.
- Noticing your vegetation wilting.
- Actually seeing a sunken area or exposed area of your foundation, which were not there before.
- Observing an actual cavity beginning to open.

Sinkhole Repair is the best decision you can make in the long run, and is very helpful.
